About Bookkeeping

Bookkeeping is the process of recording, organizing, and categorizing your day-to-day financial transactions — income, expenses, payments, and so on. It's the foundation of your financial records.

Accounting involves a deeper analysis of those records — things like financial analysis, forecasting, and strategy — and is typically performed by a CPA or accountant. Tax preparation is a separate licensed service focused on filing your tax returns.

I provide bookkeeping only. I keep your books accurate and organized throughout the year so that when it's time to work with a CPA or tax preparer, everything they need is clean and ready.

No. I am not a CPA, enrolled agent, or licensed tax professional, and I do not offer tax preparation or tax advice of any kind. If you have tax questions, please work with a licensed CPA or tax preparer.

What I do offer is year-end records that are organized and ready for whoever handles your taxes, which can make that process faster and potentially less expensive.

Each month I record and categorize all of your business income and expenses, reconcile your bank and credit card accounts against your books, and deliver a monthly Profit & Loss report. Depending on your package, you may also receive a balance sheet, cash flow statement, and other reports.

See the Pricing page for a full breakdown of what's included in each package.

Working Together

No — and I want to be completely upfront about that. I am not a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed accountant, or enrolled agent. I do not hold any accounting credentials or certifications.

My value is in the experience I've built working hands-on with service-based businesses over the years, and my focus on delivering reliable, accurate bookkeeping at a price that makes sense for small business owners. For anything that requires licensure — taxes, audits, financial planning — you'll need to work with a licensed professional.

I primarily work with service-based small businesses, with a particular focus on therapists and private practice mental health professionals. I also work with consultants, coaches, and other solo or small-team service providers.

If you run a product-based business with complex inventory, wholesale accounts, or manufacturing, I may not be the right fit — feel free to reach out and I'll let you know honestly.

It starts with a free 30-minute consultation where we talk through your business and your current books situation. If it seems like a good fit, I'll send you a simple agreement and an onboarding checklist. I'll need read access to your accounting software (or we'll set one up) and view-only access to your bank and credit card accounts. Once I have what I need, I get started on the current month — and catch up any prior months if needed.

Very little, once we're up and running. I'll have read access to your accounts and can pull what I need. Occasionally I may reach out via email to ask about a specific transaction I can't categorize without more context — something like an unclear expense or an unusual payment. Most months I'll simply do the work and deliver your report.

I communicate primarily by email, which works well for bookkeeping since most questions aren't urgent. Standard package clients can expect responses within 1–2 business days. Full-Service clients receive priority response, typically within one business day. I also include quarterly or monthly check-in calls depending on your package, and you're always welcome to request a call if something more complex comes up.

I work with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Wave. If you're already using one of these, great — I can work within your existing setup. If you're not using anything yet, I'll help you figure out which platform is the right fit for your business and get you set up as part of onboarding.

Pricing & Billing

Hourly billing creates uncertainty — you never quite know what your invoice will be at the end of the month, especially if you had a busy period or asked a few questions. Flat-rate packages mean you know exactly what you'll pay, every month, no matter how long it takes me to complete your books.

It also means I'm incentivized to work efficiently, and you never feel like you're "on the clock" when you send me an email.

If you consistently exceed your transaction limit, I'll let you know and recommend upgrading to the next package tier. For occasional overages, I offer add-on blocks of 50 transactions for $65 per block rather than charging by the hour. Either way, you'll always be told before any additional charges appear.

I work on a month-to-month basis. I ask for 30 days' notice if you decide to cancel, which gives me time to prepare your final records and hand everything off cleanly. There are no cancellation fees.

Yes — this is actually one of the most common situations I work with. If you have months or years of unrecorded or disorganized transactions, I offer catch-up bookkeeping as an add-on service. The scope and cost depend on how far back we need to go and how disorganized things are. We'd scope this out during or shortly after our initial consultation. No judgment — I've seen it all.
